The official story is that we met through common friends. The slightly-less-official story involves a phone, a well-timed swipe, and a friend we've decided to credit generously. Either way — reader, we're getting married.
Him
Shivin is the human embodiment of “sure, why not” — he'll sign up for a half marathon on a whim and then actually run it, book the flight before checking the budget, and explain the entire F1 season to you unprompted (you didn't ask; you're getting it anyway). By day he's an engineer in London, building things most of us will never understand; the rest of the time he's chasing something new, whether that's a running PB, a good book, or a watch he definitely doesn't need.
But the thing that actually defines him isn't the ambition — it's the warmth. He makes friends everywhere, from the team in the office to the chai stall down the road, and remembers everyone's story. He's curious about everything, generous with his time, and the most reliable person in the room the moment things get hard. He runs on genuine care: for his people, for his work, and — most of all — for the woman he's about to marry.
And for anyone picturing the intense, always-on achiever: he also falls asleep during films he chose. The ambition has an off switch, and it usually goes off around 9pm on the sofa.
Her
Simpi is, quite simply, the smartest person in most rooms she walks into — and the last person who'd ever tell you so. She's a Dr — the first in the family, and yes, we're already insufferable about it. But don't picture the stereotype: she wears the brilliance lightly, explains hard things like they're easy, and would rather ask you a good question than win an argument.
She's also always three books deep — usually a story about people loving each other in complicated, tender ways, which tells you most of what you need to know about her heart. She reads people the same way: closely, generously, and with a memory for the small things everyone else forgets. She's the calm to his chaos and the plan to his “let's just wing it” — the one who stays quiet while the room panics and then quietly fixes the thing that was actually broken.
She loves hard, laughs easily, and has impeccable taste she'll pretend she isn't sure about.
Us
Together we've built a life across London, Delhi, and Singapore — three cities, one shared Google Calendar, an absurd number of boarding passes, and roughly 4,000 voice notes. And now we're gathering our favourite people in Delhi this November for three days of haldi, mehandi, dancing till our feet give up, and one sundowner wedding we've been not-so-quietly dreaming about.
